Many of you may have seen the headlines “Stay at home mom blogs daily and quits her 9 to 5 job”.
How many of you new moms or dads would love the opportunity to stay at home with your young children and make easy money? How many of you must make a second income to make ends meet? One way to stay at home is to blog.
Well, Dr. Phil’s online blog has done an ongoing poll, “Do you think moms should stay at home with their young kids?”
So far when I last checked the poll is very close, 47% said yes, a good mom stay at home and raises their children? So that leaves 53% that said they want to have professional goals also. Just because you have professional goals doesn’t make you a bad mom. My philosophy is why not have both?
In this century there are a lot of moms staying home raising their children and bringing in an income working from home.
There are many ways a stay at home mom can make money. One of the fastest growing income opportunities is blogging about things you love. Yes, believe it or not blogging about things you love can help you earn a residual income. Every stay at home mom should start a blog and commit to writing in it on a regular basis.

Stop Procrastinating! All stay at home moms should start their blog today! You may be asking yourself which blog website should I go with? Personally I like self hosted WordPress sites, but there are many others such as Blogger, livejournal, and squidoo.
The reason I like to host my own wordpress site is because wordpress offers so many plug-ins and hosting it myself allows me the creativity to help get the pages ranked in Google much faster. If you decide that you don’t want to fuss over installing WP on your own domain you can create a blog on a shared domain that already has a history and traffic, this will help drive traffic to your site faster.
The key is to pick one and post consistently.
Choose Your Niche or Content
Make sure you choose a subject you are interested in and stay on topic! That’s because search engines will rank you based on the relevancy of your topics and how they relate to your site, so once you pick a topic try to stay with it as much as possible.
As a mom or a stay at home parent there are many interesting topics to write about. Start out doing your research on topic of your choice. Example topic can be parenting, sub topics can include newborn babies, living with teenagers, and living with disabled children. Gather as much important information as you can. Start writing your own original material.
How to Monetize Your Blog
There are several different ways to accomplish monetizing your blog. One of the simplest ways to make money with your blog is the use of advertising such as Google Adwords, it’s easy to sign up for an account and the best part is that it doesn’t cost you a dime.
Another way to turn your blog into an additional source of income is with the use of affiliate marketing. You can look for these companies by typing affiliates into the search engines. Each company is different and should have all the affiliate details listed on their website. You can use websites such as Amazon, Commission Junction, and ClickBank to name a few. The way you can make money with affiliates is by advertising their products, when someone clicks on the link from your blog and purchases a product you will get paid a commission.
Commission rates will vary from anywhere like 4% (Amazon) to 30, 50, 70, or even 100%, YES! 100% Commissions can be made by blogging and advertising quality products. The average commission tends to be around 50%, I tend to look for affiliates that have a good pay structure and have quality products as I will not advertise someone who I do not personally use and I recommend the same for you.
